The second day of the Focus on Agriculture conference, organized by Business Review, included discussions on subsidies, VAT reductions, as well as the benefits of farmers’ associations.
Achim Irimescu, Secretary of State within the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, talked about how the national program of rural development (PNDR) will look over 2014-2020. In his opinion, support schemes for farmers should be more focused and concentrated, both in terms of direct payments as well as the measures through which investments will be made over 2014-2020, with a special emphasis on the support that should be granted to young farmers. Alongside the representative of the Ministry, the panel also featured Nicolae Popa, Deputy General Manager of the APDRP.
The PRO AGRO National Federation hosted its first Congress on Thursday, October 31st. Just one year from its official launch, the Federation has notched up notable successes, such as its admission into COPA-COGECA, making it the voice of Romanian farmers both on the local market and also abroad.
